Wading Pools!

The weather here in K-ville has been LAME. A few of the parks here in town have wading pools open in the afternoons for the young kids to play in. Franny really enjoys it as do I, because people like Jayne are there to hang out and chat with while the kids are in the pool. Well, the pools have been open since Memorial Day, but we've only gone once because of the weather. It was an interesting afternoon! I'll spare you the swim diaper story, but I'll share another story about our up and coming social butterfly Franny. There are some public restrooms near the pool and I saw Franny run off past them and around the corner. I thought I better follow so Sophie and I quickly walked to catch up to her. As I am telling you this story, I am sitting here deeply regretting that I did not run to get to her, so I could have spared both Franny and I from what happened next. There were three boys and a girl who were, let's see... what's a nice way of saying white trash? The grass where the kids were standing was flooded and there were large puddles everywhere- Franny loves to splash around in puddles. They were standing around one larger puddle and giggling in a suspicious way. I don't know for sure, but I can only guess by some comments that were made that the boys were practicing their "aim." I could be wrong, it all happened so fast, but then the boys ran off and Franny followed, right after stomping her bare foot right in the afore-mentioned pee puddle! Oh Franny.... One more dip in the over-chlorinated pool and we headed home for the bath tub.

  2. Franny cracks me up! And, I love it when you are there also so I have someone fun to chat with! I just hope the weather warms up so we can actually ENJOY them and not be freezing sitting on the edge...

  3. teenagers are so annoying! i have a hard time NOT trying to put them in their place. i mock their angst and their ego-centric thought process. i have barked at several here in k-town. i dont know why they bother me...i would probably be the WORST young womans leader/helper. but anyway...away from that tangent.
franny is so super cute! but i am sad she stepped in someone's pee. i love those wading pools. you feel like they are safer b/c they are not so deep. i just read the ABA post...i had not seen it. it was pretty interesting about the learning process with franny. not to mention the picture of me and you is amazing!

  5. Janelle you crack me up. Katherine came home and told me that story and I just laughed and laughed. I think you're right about those kids being teenagers. Kath said the kids looked 13-ish. I have a selective memory where I add things that never happened and take things away that probably did so I actually have no idea if any of this is true.
