A Child's Prayer

Ever since Franny's jungle birthday party, she's been mentioning various animals in her bedtime prayers. The first time she asked Heavenly Father to bless the lion, tiger, hippo, and rhinoceros, I had to hunch over to stifle my laughter. Since then, we've tried to redirect her a little to remember the actual people in her life that we think she might like to pray for. Here's how her prayer went tonight:

Franny: "Dear Heavenly Father, please bless the lion, the tiger-"
Me: "Please bless Grandpa..."
Franny: "And Annie, and Maggie, and Julia.... and Lisa, and Bart, and Homer, and Marge-"
Me, finally (it took the whole Simpson family before I could regain control and keep myself from laughing out loud): "and Daddy..."
Franny: "Bless Tiffany, and Robin, and Maggie, and Nora.... and Megan.... 'rice (which is how Franny closes the prayer in the Savior's name), Amen."

  11. Hey Bobby and Katherine!! I don't know if you remember us from about 5 years ago. We were in your ward in Provo when you lived next to the Traver's. Anyway, I saw the link to your blog when I was on my friend's blog site. Your post cracked me up. Kids are great!!!

  13. That is HILARIOUS! The Simpsons?! How funny! I can totally relate about trying to stifle laughter in prayers. The other night Benny was looking around the living room saying he was thankful for everything he could see... "thankful for clocks-es, pictures, and... those things" and actually pointed to the wall decorations! Haha!

  15. Kids have the raddest prayers. Julie's little Ellie once prayed for me and Jarom and then informed Heavenly Father that Jarom was my husband. So cute. I'm sure he was wondering who that guy was that I've been hanging out with. (=

  17. hi katherine you have no idea who i am but i discovered your blog through my cousin hayley van beever. i came looking for new recipes (though i am in no way close to being a domestic goddess) just sick of all the same stuff i make, so now i have a few questions: 1)i need detailed and i mean detailed explanation of your homemade rolls (and how come i always seem to have to use WAY more flour than my recipes call for, i don't do my own breads much so get really confused by this) 2)you mentioned a cafe rio pork recipe of one of your friends, i would love to get it, my husband and i are having cafe rio withdrawls and 3)your pesto recipe so i can try your pesto, pasta, and peas recipe
i know i am asking a lot (especially being a complete stranger) but i would really appreciate it
you can email me at aquabatgirl@hotmail.com
    thanks,
    deanne
p.s. and seriously you are amazing! i have no idea how you do all the cooking you do (espeically breads, they take so much time) and have your kids (i'm expecting my third and feel that cooking my take a stand-still for awhile)
