Two weird things happened this weekend. I was planning to be in a hotel in Chicago tonight hanging out with my sister and her husband (wow, that sounds weird- they JUST got married), but since Julia isn't coming until next weekend (a misunderstanding that is probably more my fault than hers), I decided not to go and switched our plans for a week from now. Even though are bags were packed. And all of Franny's special food. And my laundry was done two days early. And I made a plate of scones to bring to my friend Meredith I was going to stay with.
Then today we got some really bad news. We have to move. In three months. Our landlords came and dropped that bomb on us right after church. Someone came to them and offered to buy the house. WHAT?! Have they even seen the inside? I don't recall showing them the house. How lucky is that for the landlords and how UNlucky is that for us?! I love this house. Boo.
So now we're faced with a decision. Buy or rent, buy or rent. Our future in this town is not certain and we weren't planning to make this decision for another year when we'll have a better idea what our plans are. Grrr... I'm a hot little potato right now.
All I want to do is sew. I wish I could sew all day. It's so weird to me that this is the way I'm dealing with my grief over my Mom's death. How random! I've never liked sewing. I feel cranky because my impending move and the stress and time associated with it is sure to get in the way of my therapy sessions with my Mom's sewing machine. All day I've felt okay about it. Until now. I hate this curve ball that's come our way. Boo.
I always have a hard time publishing posts like this. I hate to whine and rant in public; I like to keep things light and funny. On the other hand, I love it when people are real and don't feel the need to hide the unpleasant. So this is me being real. This is me saying that sometimes, just sometimes, life sucks.
I'm sorry Katherine, I wish I was there with you.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is that even when you're being "real" and all, you are still hilarious. (ok,so that isn't ALL I have to say.. And let me know if I can help in any way. You can always come to my house and sew so that you can hide from packing and making decisions.
ReplyDeleteBummer. I'm glad they gave you 3 months and not three weeks, but still, what a bummer. I would love to sew with you too. Jed said you sent us some presents, but I haven't seen them yet. Thank you in advance. You're such a great friend and miss you! I was SO jealous that Paul got to see you this weekend. He said it was so fun to jump up and down and scream with you guys in a big group hug. ;) He was standing in for me, and I wish I had been there.
ReplyDeleteAnytime you want to hide from your life feel free to come and stay with me (don't forget those scones:). I must agree that you are hillarious, even when mad. Dan and i have started quoting your "blah, blah, crazy kids"etc. Your life makes me laugh and cry all at the same time. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks!!! Since I am a control freak (well, sort of) I can't stand the unknown! I like it when there is a plan and that plan is going into effect. I hope you guys are able to figure out your living situation... in the mean time, you can sew me something :) I wish I had that as my outlet. If it makes you feel any better... Dana just found out that her and Chase will be moving to Missouri for 3 months this summer (not exactly the best time to be there), so maybe you can show her the ropes. Love you!
ReplyDeleteHey thanks guys. Your comments really do make me feel better. :)
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about the move...maybe things will fall through with the future owners?
ReplyDeletep.s. I love reading your blog and seeing what you are up to;)
That STINKS!!! The worst time to have to move, after all the new students coming in snatched the housing!! If you want to come over, we have a vent session on bad landlords, or landlords that make inconvenient decisions.
ReplyDeleteI am so so so so so so so so sorry!
ReplyDeleteI wish I were there to help you move, I hope you find somewhere you love.
Oh and one more thing, why do landlords think THEY can break the lease but you can't so annoying. If he is breaking the lease I would say ok last months rent free and/or moving cost plus the complete deposit. Or you could be totally greedy like us and ask for 3 months haha!
ReplyDeleteBUMMER!! I'm so sorry, but we will help you pack or watch the girls, whatever you want or need.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - let me know if I can help out in ANY way. REALLY.
ReplyDeleteI love the real--your "real" is still hilarious! Here's an idea: move to Ohio with us!
ReplyDeleteHot little potato. Is that Mugatu?
ReplyDeleteThat timing totally stinks. Sorry about the bad news. If this is a blessing, it certainly is disguised.
Nice Sarah. I am so impressed. I think it's even from the deleted scenes.
ReplyDeleteI remember another time that you had to move and we got to have you overnight. I wish I were there to help and hug you. You are awesome and everything will turn out fine but probably not without a lot of work. Remember my little coat of Love is wrapped around you. (I used to say that to my kids.)
ReplyDeleteBuy for sure! If you ever want to talk about buying a house here, I have a few bits of info I could pass along.
ReplyDeleteIt does stink, esp. since you guys haven't been there that long... sorry!
bummer. hope everything works out:) i love your sewing work, you are so talented!
