Sophie has thrown up 5 times in the last 24 hours. I thought we were done with the vomiting and left her downstairs watching Aladdin on my bed while I was upstairs baking scones for a ward party tonight. I was on the phone when I heard the terrible noise of Sophie screaming "Mommy" and choking on her own vomit at the same time. I run dowstairs to find that she has not puked on the beach towel I carefully laid on top of the bed just in case... no, no, no, she leaned over the edge of the beach towel and threw up on the quilt my mother made for me and on my new and somewhat expensive bedspread that I really love. (Yes, that's it there on the left.) The bedspread is in the washing machine now and I am so afraid that when it comes out it will never be the same.
So I need a minute. Sophie's hair has been washed and she's been dressed in her pajamas for the fifth time since yesterday morning. And I'm taking the two minutes I have left before I have to leave to pick up Franny to savor a dark chocolate Lindt truffle and snack on some Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips.
Cross your fingers that my bedspread makes it through this ordeal unscathed.
oh no! poor sophie and poor bedspread! :(
ReplyDeleteso are you still going tonight?
yikes! The joys of motherhood :)
ReplyDeleteI hope she feels better and your bedspread is not ruined!
Oh no, I hope Sophie is feeling better! That looks like a cute bedspread. I hope the bedspread comes out okay. I put ours in the wash and it was not the same when I took it out. I just really did not want to pay for the dry cleaners.
ReplyDeletePoor Sophie and poor you! I hate when my kids are sick. It is the absolute worst. Hopefully she will start feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteO Katherine, I am SO SO sorry. I hope it doesn't circulate through the rest of your family! I know Sophie will recover; it is the bedspread I am worried about...... keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteGo away sick buggies! I just made a very similar blog page myself...although my bedspread has been spared! Hope your cutie feels better soon and that it doesn't spread to the rest of the fam!
ReplyDeleteHow do you know Rachel Sandberg? She lives by my brother! My sister-in-law, also Rachel, is friends with her. Crazy! Small world!
ReplyDeleteYuck! So sorry! I hope Sophie's episodes are over and she is feeling better. That is a perfect picture of a sick little girl...all curled up in a ball sleeping. She's so precious.
ReplyDeleteYour child is sick & throwing up and all your concerned about is some replaceable blanket?
ReplyDeleteHa! Teresa, I should probably be upset by your comment but all I really want to do is laugh. Maybe you didn't read the line that said I have bathed my child five times, washed her hair five times, and dressed her FIVE TIMES. I said I needed a minute. I took only a minute instead of twenty to write down how was feeling right then, so I could get back to caring for my sick daughter, whom I love very much. I think I've done right by my kid.
ReplyDeleteHey, but thanks for stopping by!
Poor baby. That is the worst, but at least you could keep your appetite. Hey - rumor has it that you are selling a book of your mom's fantastic recipes. How can I get my hands on one of those?? She was an incredible cook/hostess!
ReplyDeletePoor thing - I hope your bedspread came out ok, and I hope today is better for you!
