I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell

My Thanksgiving would not be complete without this, and neither will yours. I know, I know- not exactly gourmet. But try it, I promise you'll love it. This is my Mom's recipe. I got it from her and I would be doing her and every one of my readers a disservice if I did not use this blog as a mouthpiece to share this festive holiday recipe. It's not a dessert. Its place is right in between the green bean casserole and the candied yams.

RASPBERRY PRETZEL Jell-O

2 c. crushed pretzels
1/2 c. melted butter
2 tbsp. powdered sugar
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 c. powdered sugar
1 lg. box raspberry Jello
2 pkg. frozen raspberries
Mix together pretzels, melted butter and the 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Then press in 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. Mix cream cheese, Cool Whip and 1 cup of powdered sugar; pour over pretzel crust.

Dissolve large package of raspberry Jello in 2 cups boiling water. Add 2 packages of frozen raspberries not drained. Mix well and pour over cream cheese. Chill for a couple hours.

This is a great recipe instead of rasberries i have used strawberry jello and frozen strawberrys and i replaced the pretzel crust with a grahm cracker crust.. Yummy.. i will have to try the rasberries next time..

Seriously?!? This is one of my favorite dessert/side dishes. Mmmm, I'm so excited to have the recipe. I thought it was just one of those family recipes I only got to enjoy at reunions.

I am so glad you are posting this delicious recipe. I make it all the time ever since your mom e-mailed it to me one Thanksgiving. I just took it to a stake RS dinner and people I didn't know were stalking me trying to find out how to make it!

Having grown up in the 70's - the era of jellow Sunday dinner was not complete with out some color/flavor of jello. My grandmother from Canada use to joke that we kept Jello in business. Now (in the 21st century) we only eat jellow on holidays -Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter wouldn't be complete without some jello dish - will give this one a try this Thanksgiving. Question - do you use frozen raspberries in those little boxes or the loose berries?? Thanks for sharing

o.k. - I really do know how to spell jello - but it's late and I'm tired and my fingers just move too fast sometimes!! Sorry

Leigh Anne, I use the frozen loose raspberries, not the ones in the box. My Mom used the Snyder's pretzel rods because they have less salt than the smaller pretzels. I've always used the cheap small pretzels, but this year I'm going to give the Snyder's brand a try.
